Various localities in South China’s Guangdong province will not be sequestered, with air, railway and road transport of medical and basic necessities running smoothly, said Vice-Governor Zhang Guangjun.
Some health monitoring and quarantine stations have been set up in the province’s transport network to control the spread of novel coronavirus, he said at a press conference in Guangzhou on Monday.
The supply of daily necessities is sufficient and stable in Guangdong, he said.
Eight medical protective goods enterprises in Guangdong are accelerating the resumption of production in the ongoing Spring Festival holiday, with officials in related cities mobilizing and supervising production resumption.
Provincial authorities have procured medical protective materials, such as masks, clothing and goggles, and distributed them across the province, Zhang said.
The effort to block the novel coronavirus has entered a key period and people spending their holiday in Central China’s Hubei province are advised to delay their trip back to Guangdong to contain the spread of the virus, said He Jianfeng, chief expert at the Guangdong Provincial Center for Disease Control and Prevention.
